Fresh Air Heat Exchanger
A Fresh Air Heat Exchanger (which is also sometimes called a 'heat recovery ventilator') is an appliance that is integrated into the ductwork of your Central Air Conditioning or Forced Air Heat system, and it brings in outside air into your home to replace stale air from inside of your home.
When you open a window to bring in fresh air, you lose all of the heat (or cooling) with the air that leaves your home. But the advantage of a Fresh Air Heat Exchanger, is that when it brings in fresh air into your home, it recovers the heat (or cooling) from the exiting air that was inside your home. So it is a much more energy efficient way of improving indoor air quality than by just opening a window.
Shown in the 'Routine Care' section are the recommended routine maintenance tasks for your fresh air heat exchanger. The 'Q & A' section shows answers to common questions. And the 'Articles' section provides helpful articles about your fresh air heat exchanger.
